UP 24587 |
Description: |
UP's Victorville-based helpers are coupled to the rear of a grain train for extra dynamic braking. Bay window caboose 24587 is a CA-13-2 class car, ex-Rock Island 17169. This group of cars was built 12/67 for UP and leased to Rock Island. After the 4/1/80 shutdown of the Rock, the cars were returned to UP, rebuilt and repainted. UP 24587 was retired 7/18/90 and sold to Pacific Rail Dismantlers. Date of photo approximate. |
